Race Rundown
A track that is on the verge of being taken off the schedule, just delivered a near perfect race. Drama, stories, battles, and an amazing finish throughout the entire day made this one of the best road course races the Next Gen car has ever given us and could end up being the best race of the year.
To the relief of many fans and probably all of the drivers, the NASCAR Cup Series is heading to something other than a drafting track. Although it still stands at 2.3 miles long, we'll be heading to the Circuit of the America's road course in Austin, Texas. The long, winding turns of this track will offer a much needed change of pace from the racing (and officiating) of the last two weeks.
The line of sport and entertainment can often be a very fine line. Viewers use these sports as entertainment, so when trying to put on the most engaging product possible, it's easy to overstep the line to entertainment. We've seen NASCAR do just that for seemingly every race over the past two weeks. At some point you have to decide whether you want to be the WWE or UFC.
Just like that, it's the morning after the Daytona 500. A race kicked off by the President and Captain America ended in smokes and flames for the sixth straight year. But this is the race everyone wants to win, the race that means more than a championship to some, the race that eludes some of the greatest drivers of all time.
This weekend the NASCAR Cup Series will head to Michigan Speedway with just three races left in the regular season. Defending winner of this race, Chris Buescher, is looking to repeat as it would lock him into the playoffs, however his season hasn't gone as expected and isn't a favorite to win.
A rain delayed Kansas race delivered the best race of the season and a historical finish. In overtime, Kyle Larson made a wrecker or checkers type move on Chris Buescher to win by 0.001 seconds, the closest in NASCAR history.
After a rough month of NASCAR going to tracks that don't fit well with the Gen 7 car, the series will be going to one of the best tracks on the schedule, Kansas Speedway. With the way the Next Gen performs on speedways and how good Kansas has been, the excitement levels for this race are pretty high.
Packed grandstands and warm weather had many fans excited for what the sole Dover race of 2024 has to offer. Instead it was a lackluster event, where Kyle Larson was unable to get past Denny Hamlin for the win in the closing laps.
Tyler Reddick manages to steal a win at Talladega after a huge block from McDowell sparked the big one coming to the line. Reddick took advantage of Keselowski’s slowed momentum and catapulted himself to the lead, winning by two tenths of a second over the 6.
The NASCAR Cup Series is set to take on the treacherous Talladega Superspeedway this weekend. With “the big one” remaining imminent, we are sure to see some tempers rise, bad blocks, and close finishes. Last year it was Kyle Busch taking the checkered flag in this race, his 2nd for RCR, but this year seems to have a different story.
A race dominated by two drivers came down to a shocking finish in overtime that saw Denny Hamlin taking the checkered flag. It was Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr. that both led over 150 laps each before Hamlin took the lead on the last round of pit stops.
The Daytona 500 is the hardest event in sports to predict an outcome for. Factoring in the nature of superspeedway racing, the close quarters, bumper to bumper, side by side for all 500 miles at 190+ mph causing what we know now as “The Big One” which could take out any competitor at any moment and the weather that could delay or shorten the biggest race of the year giving us strategies for staying up front as long as possible.
