Yet again, Brad Keselowski came so close to snapping his now 108 race winless streak, but he was ultimately beaten at the line at Talladega. Brad finished 2nd to Tyler Reddick after he was slowed down by a spinning Michael McDowell coming down the front stretch. His last win dates back to his days with Penske being at Talladega in 2021.
Keselowski is now 40 years old and driving for his own team that before he took over had not been successful in recent years. However the past couple of years have shown Keselowski does still have what it takes to win. In just 10 races this year, he has four top-5s with back to back 2nd place finishes in the last two races. Keselowski and RFK have very clearly not missed a step from their breakout performance with Chris Buescher last year, so when will Keselowski snap this streak?
The least likely track he’ll get this elusive win is on any road course. In the last two seasons, Keselowski has one top 15 finish, and that was from 15th place at Watkins Glen last year. Although earlier in his career he managed to be competitive on these tracks, the field seems to have surpassed him and a win at any of them would be shocking to say the least.
I believe any other track has a high probability to provide the opportunity for a win. Looking back, the team has been able to get top-10s and top-5s at any type of track. While there are ups and downs just like with any other driver or team, you can’t pinpoint another type of track as a weakness.
I truly believe Keselowski’s next win is more of a when instead of an if. I’m going to be asking when will Brad break this streak rather than wondering if he ever will be able to. The 6 team has shown impeccable speed and ability to finish races after a rocky start. These are the makings of a winning team.
